Takk og farvel til Celtic Frost og Alabama Thunderpussy

Band kommer. Band går. Noen går mer enn andre.

I morgentimene i dag tikket det inn melding om at to band vi har spilt i Pyro har besluttet Ã¥ gi seg. Alltid trist med band som forsvinner, men sÃ¥nn er verden, baby. Celtic Frost har forsvunnet tidligere ogsÃ¥, men gjorde comeback for noen Ã¥r siden. I dag sier bandmedlemmene Tom Gabriel Fisher og Martin Eric Ain at det aldri kommer til Ã¥ bli noe mer Celtic Frost. Og der forsvinner et av de viktigste bandene i europeisk metal. Nok en gang. Mer overraskende er det kanskje at det frekke bandet Alabama Thunderpussy ogsÃ¥ gir seg. Et band vi i Pyro har hatt mang en god stund med de siste Ã¥rene, og et av de bandene som har best navn der ute….

“In the wake of the events transpiring earlier this year, we, who together formed CELTIC FROST in 1984 and together reformed the group in 2001, have discussed the situation and agree that any continuation of CELTIC FROST without either one of us would be irreconcilable with our original ideas and detrimental to the group’s legacy. We have therefore jointly decided to lay CELTIC FROST to rest for good and to treasure and honor what we have created together in the course of the history of this truly unique band. All that is left to do now is to bow our heads in sincere gratitude and pay respect to CELTIC FROST’s audiences and friends who have made this group’s existence possible in the first place.”

“The beginning of 2008 brought yet more upheaval in the saga that is this band, when Kyle Thomas [vocals] left the group to focus on his family and the impending EXHORDER reunion. The remaining four of us had a band meeting and after serious discussion, decided to take a much-deserved/needed few months’ hiatus to regroup and focus on home life and other individual projects. The ‘few months’ seemed to flow into a bit longer as the summer progressed and we all dug deeper into our lives as individuals outside of ATP.

“Well, we finally regrouped and after much deliberation and thoughtful discussion, we have decided to end the band. There are no hard feelings between us and no bullshit politics. It’s pretty much just the end of an era. To quote George Harrison, all things must pass. And so after 12-plus years of solid ATP mayhem, we call it a day.

“We can’t thank all of you enough for the tireless and seemingly endless support and friendship we received from you over the years. It was really fucking amazing and appreciated more than you know. Each one of us are still very active and involved in creating music and art and we hope you will bless us with your continued support of our individual endeavors. So if you would, raise your drink of choice in our honor and toast to the future.”
