Konsertsommer 2009 del 5 – Mastodon, Lamb Of God, Metallica i Oslo Spektrum
Publisert 2:28 18 June, 2009
MEMO TO MASTODON: Mastodon has the best metal songs ever, but we seriously need to hear you guys rock out at Rockefeller, Sentrum or some other cool Oslo club venue. We´ve seen Mastodon support Iron Maiden (2X), Slayer (2X) and Metallica (1X) as well as the short festival gigs you did at Hove and Ekstremsportveko. Your support show at the Metallica gig tonight was OK, but not a single person in the audience could really take in the kick ass prog metal heavenly shit you guys are capable of. Dudes, face it: you are NOT a support band, even if Metallica or Iron Maiden are headlining.
MEMO TO LAMB OF GOD: You guys are the best band in the world. Seriously! Wrath is the heaviest album of the year so far. We´ve seen you destroy New York headlining above Machine Head and Trivium, but yesterday you were fucked over by support sound. The band sounded like an army conquering continents, but it was completely impossible to hear Randys voice. Come on guys, Set To Fail and Dead Seeds are songs designed to slay Metallicas audience, but not as instrumentals. Please tell your sound guy or somebody in your crew to get their shit together. Or maybe you have stupid support band rules from the Metallica camp? And please come back to Norway and do a proper show, not a support gig where you guys are playing second fiddle to anyone.
MEMO TO METALLICA: The laser show is pretty lame, Jean Michel Jarre did it waaaay better in a documentary I saw on NRK last Saturday. Some of the new songs are cool in the studio versions, but only The Day That Never Comes really kicks ass live. All Nightmare Long is the best song on Death Magnetic, but sounds like a car crash live. Oh, come to think of it, Cyanide was ok too. Lars Ulrich needs to rehearse the drum action on One. Please do not ever, ever play Turn The Page live again, it makes you look like swedish party dudes. The Four Horsemen slays, it seriously makes me wanna move to a deserted sland and fuck shit up for all eternity. Robert Trujillo is the coolest member of Metallica, could you play You Can´t Bring Me Down as an encore? Kirk should not do back up vocals, ever. Lars should stay behind the drumkit more, he’s a drummer not a dancer. Please play Leper Messiah in Norway, not only in boring Finland. And guys, seriously: you played Dyers Eve, Ride The Lightning and Holier Than Thou in Finland. GODDAMMIT, it is just plain evil to spit Turn The Page in our faces instead, we are human beings too. But hey, Overkill was amazing, so thank you for that little gem. Harvester Of Sorrow rocked hard. Sad But True was played too fast, it sounded like a boogie song, and you guys don’t wanna compete with ZZ Top in the boogie department, because they will kill you with their fluffy guitars and burning cigars. Seek & Destroy still reign supreme, two and a half decades after you guys wrote about scanning the scene in the city and looking for some dudes to start up a fight.
Ok, hva synes Pyro-folket om konserten?
